Governance and protocols
Bodies and community engagement
Several governing bodies structure life at the Lycée Français de Madrid, and include representatives from across the school community. They are spaces for dialogue and decision-making.
A constructive and collaborative approach
A body is a structure composed of members with decision-making authority.
In an educational institution, school life is regulated by several bodies which make decisions on the future evolution of the school. They are key spaces for dialogue and collective organisation in the school. The duties, composition, and functioning of these bodies are defined and regulated in official circulars.

Members
Different members sit on these bodies, some with voting rights and others in a consultative capacity.
Depending on the body, sitting members may include : representatives of staff, students, and parents as well as the Head of school, the Chief Administrative Officer and the Head of primary school. Representatives of the embassy, elected officials representing French citizens abroad, representatives of alumni associations, as well as AEFE staff may also attend.
Functioning: duties, dates, and procedures
Each body is responsible for a number of areas, defined in legal texts, particularly the one legislating on French educational institutions abroad under the AEFE. Meeting dates are scheduled in advance; an agenda is sent beforehand, along with the documents to be reviewed prior to the meeting. Procedures are organised to ensure that all members have the opportunity to speak.
